We celebrate the UN led Climate Agreement reached on Dec 12, 2015 by 200 nations in Paris at the COP21. We also recognize that this is only a framework for the world to begin the enormous task ahead. On Nov. 29 OCCA, with assistance from our chapter, held a local rally, one of many around the world calling for binding treaty for climate justice and a rapid phase-out of fossil fuels.

Our 70th UN Anniversary Celebration held Oct. 24, 2015 was a resounding success. Read about it in the Message from the President and the Young Professionals in ChapterReports.
This full day event will feature a celebration of the 70th anniversary of the United Nations, a discussion with panelists on human rights, and an interactive session on implementing the new Global Goals in our local community. A buffet lunch is included with registration.

September 19, 2015, Saturday at 12 noon We were guests on a tour of the exhibit, “Vietnamese Focus: Generations of Stories” in the old Orange County Courthouse’s historical gallery, with co-curator Linda Trinh Vo, a UCI professor and director of the Vietnamese American Oral History Project.Marking the 40th anniversary of the Fall of Saigon, it details the history of the Vietnamese refugees settling in Orange County, home of the largest Vietnamese community outside Vietnam.

The last Sunday in January is always a special date for members, friends, and supporters of the Orange County chapter of the United Nations Association. This year our event was well attended. Installation of officers was a brief ceremony. Participants enjoyed a brunch buffet, a special speaker, and the silent auction (attested by photos below). Our speaker, Dr. Paul Arthur, Professor Emeritus in
Peace Studies at the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland, is a man with
vast experience of peacemaking in some of the most troubled places in the
