The United Nations Association of the United States of America (UNA-USA) is a membership organization dedicated to inform, inspire, and mobilize the American people to support the ideals and vital work of the United Nations. For 70 years UNA-USA has worked to accomplish its mission through its national network of Chapters, youth engagement, advocacy efforts, education programs, and public events. UNA-USA is a program of the United Nations Foundation. UNA-USA and its sister organization the Better World Campaign represent the single largest network of advocates and supporters of the United Nations in the world.
The United Nations, founded in 1945 to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, is still the only global forum where nations and their citizens try to solve the world's problems. As national governments increasingly struggle to manage such 21st-century issues as climate change, pandemic disease, conflicts, international terrorism and other serious problems that can rapidly traverse borders, the role of the UN is even more important across the globe.
From the beginning, the UN has been a body of member states that determine the direction and overall efficiency of the organization; the support and commitment of the United States, one of the 193 member states that belong to the UN, is therefore imperative to maintaining a strong and vital institution.
By becoming a member ofUNA-USA, you demonstrate public support for the UN while helping to educate others in your community and beyond about the value of global involvement in world affairs.
